Description

Launched in 1954, the Seoul International Book Fair has been Korea’s biggest book festival for nearly 70 years. The event connects those who make books with those who read them, bringing together publishers, writers, scholars, artists, editors, and readers with the purpose of sharing knowledge and information.

What is your “Last Resort”? That one thing — an idea, a belief, a person — you turn to when times get tough, when you feel alone, when the world seems a little too heavy.

That’s the question the Seoul International Book Fair 2025 is asking. Because life, as we all know, isn’t always easy. We face hardship. We struggle — with loss, with uncertainty, with forces beyond our control. We live through economic downturns and political turmoil, natural disasters and man-made crises. And yet, through it all, we endure. We adapt. We push forward.

But no one makes it through alone. Each of us has something — or someone — that keeps us going. A book. A friend. A quiet moment of reflection. A community that lifts us up. This year, we’re coming together to celebrate those things — the Last Resorts that sustain us.

So, who stands by you? What keeps your hope alive? Maybe it’s the systems we build to protect each other. Maybe it’s the land beneath our feet or the dreams that take us beyond the stars. Whatever it is, we want to hear it.

At this book fair, we gather as a community, not just to share stories, but to remind one another that none of us walks this path alone. And maybe, just maybe, by the time we turn the last page, we’ll find that the greatest Last Resort we have — is each other.
